Paul had to cross he Tarsus
Mountains in order to reach the Roman province of Galatia. This range
divided Cilicia to the south from Cappadocia and Lycaonia to the north.
The
main pass through the Tarsus Mountains is referred to as the Cilician
Gates (Pulae Ciliciae). The pass is actually a river gorge.
The view in this photograph is from the north.
