Thirteen miles long and eight miles across, the Sea of Galilee is fed by the
Jordan River. Also known as the Sea of Tiberias and Lake of Gennesaret,
the Sea of Galilee was surrounded by many important settlements in Jesus' time,
such as Tiberias, Capernaum, Bethsaida and Chorazin. The Sea of Galilee
also supported a thriving fishing industry.
