In Corinth there was found a shrine to Asklepios,
a deified Greek from the past known for his remarkable powers to heal.
The sick came to the shrine to petition for healing.
When they recovered, it was customary for those who
had petitioned Asklepios for healing to offer a votive offering of
replicas of the parts of the body that were healed.
