Author - Moses
The Psalms are a collection of Hebrew poems which
were written over a period of about 1000 years. There were a dozen or
more authors who composed the Psalms. Hebrew tradition holds that David
compiled the Psalms with the help of ten elders.
While David didn't write all of the Psalms, still
he is the primary author, which is why they are called Davidic. Many of
the Psalms are ascribed to him and the New Testament ascribes many to
him. (Acts 4:25 - Psalm 2; Hebrews 4:7 - Psalm 95) There is no reason
to doubt the accuracy of the authors ascribed in the titles of the Psalms.
The Psalms with no designation may well be Davidic Psalms, although there
is no way of being certain. Their place within the cannon of Scripture
is secured by their presence in the book of psalms.
