Outline of Book
The Psalter is divided into in five historical books. Each section ends with a doxology. The last Psalm forms a fitting concluding doxology to the entire Psalter. The Psalms are not arranged in chronological order, although some are grouped together. Some of the related groups are 3-4, 9-10, 42-43, 95-100, 146-150, 111-112. Groups are sometimes arranged according to author (42, 44-49 sons of Korah, 73-83 Asaph), and descriptive inscriptions (50-60 Michtam, 120-134 Songs of Ascent.)
